This sledge was affectionately named 'Baskers' by Pen. He recalls:

'I would be using a state-of-the-art sledge, originally designed by Alex Bierwald of Acapulka in association with Borge Ousland.'

He set off with it fully packed weighing 265lbs. On its naming:

'On past expeditions I've ended up hating my sledge as if it were my most mortal enemy, but there has been a sea-change on this expedition since I started calling him 'Baskers' and now he was a fully fledged member of my inner circle: The Team.'
