Two items presented to Lieutenant-Colonel C.M. Dobell DSO on the occasion of his marriage, 1908.
A silver salver, 337 mm diameter, on four feet and with a raised 'pie-crust' border, struck with the hallmarks for the London assaying year 1907-08 and the maker's mark of C.S Harris & Sons Ltd.; the upper centre engraved with the Arms and Crest used by the Dobell family and the inscription: Presented to Lieut. Colonel C.M. Dobell. D.S.O. on his marriage by his Brother Officers 1st Royal Welch Fusilers. March 1908.
A silver cigar/cigarette box, 140 mm x 211 mm x 76 mm, struck with the hallmarks for the London assaying year 1905-06 and the maker's mark (possibly) of Frederic Hewson of Hewson & Williams; the interior lined in cedar with two adjustable cedar spacers and the lid interior gilded; the lid exterior engraved with the Arms and Crest used by the Dobell family and the inscription: Presented to Lieut. Colonel C.M. Dobell. D.S.O. on his marriage by his Brother Officers 2nd Royal Welch Fusilers. 3rd March 1908; the base lined with black Russia leather.
