Jonathan Mohn Buckley was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Engineers in January 2003. Gaining his Parachute Wings on 26 March 2004, he joined 51 Parachute Squadron (Air Assault) and also earned an Adjutant General's Commendation on 1 July 2004. Adding his Helicopter Abseil Instructors Course in October 2005, he served in Afghanistan and was advanced Captain in June 2006. Buckley - a distant relative of Major John Buckley who won a Victoria Cross in the Indian Mutiny - retired on 31 August 2009; sold together with a number of photographs of and including the recipient in Botswana parachuting and on tour in Afghanistan, besides copied Commissioning document and certificates.
