John Francis Healy was educated at Bennerley School, gaining four GCSE's and enlisted in the Parachute Regiment on 22 July 1997. Qualified as a parachutist on 1 March 1998, he served in Northern Ireland on the first occasion later that year and specialised as a Battlefield Medic, gaining a number of qualifications during his 16 year career. During that time he saw active service in the Former Yugoslavia, Iraq in 2005, Afghanistan in 2006, earning the Accumulated Campaign Service Medal on 9 May 2008 and his L.S. & G.C. on 1 September 2012. He served with the 2nd Battalion in Afghanistan and was present for the action around the Gibraltar Forward Operating Base which cost the life of Private J. L. Rawstron whilst attempting to reduce Taliban movement in the area on 12 September 2008 and was the first to the casualty:
'Pte Rawstron was lying on his side in what I can only describe as an unnatural position. I removed his helmet and sunglasses to examine the injury and tried to open his airways, but there was no evidence of breathing. I just shook my head.

Healy was discharged on 17 December 2013 and went into the medical profession; sold together with copied Certificate of Service and short biography.
