David J. Gearing was born in July 1978 and enlisted in the Army on 8 May 1996. He served exclusively with the 1st Battalion, Queen's Lancashire Regiment, initially with a Rifle Company, before joining the Signals Platoon. He served in Omagh as a Signals Operative and then volunteered to extend his service in order to join his unit in Iraq. During the firefighters strike of 2002-03 he trained as a 'Green Goddess' crewman and worked in Merseyside during that time. He was runner up in the Kemp Cup Shooting competition in 1999 and won the Regimental Basic Personal Fitness Assessment in 2002; sold together with named lid of issue for the Iraq Medal, the two aforementioned prize medals, each cased, original Testimonial and Certificate of Qualifications, Job Descriptions, City & Guids Certificate, besides copied research related to the press coverage around the resignation of Lieutenant-Colonel Mendonca, D.S.O.
