An impressive and extremely rare '1922 Air Operations Iraq' D.F.M. group of ten awarded to Group Captain F. Evans, Royal Air Force, who as a young Flight Sergeant was decorated for his part in suppressing the Iraqi insurgency

Frank Evans was born on 2 December 1895 and served as Air Mechanic 1st Class during the Great War. Awarded the D.F.M. in 1924, Evans was appointed Warrant Officer on 23 October 1934 whilst attached to No. 47 (Bomber) Squadron at Khartoum. Appointed to a commission on 6 April 1938 and promoted Squadron Leader on 1 June 1945, he was finally placed on the Retired List of the Engineer (formerly Technical) Branch on 9 December 1949, retaining the rank of Group Captain; sold with copied London Gazette entries.
