Muriel Irene Newbury was born on 11 November 1914 at Ilford, the daughter of Percy Cecil Newbury of 26 Belgrave Road, Ilford, London, who served during the Great War as a Lance Bombardier in the Royal Garrison Artillery. Following in her father's military footsteps, Newbury attested for Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps, being appointed Major on 1 August 1949. Awarded the R.R.C. 1st Class in 1957, she spent her retirement living at 19 Roseneath Avenue, Enfield, before passing away on 18 July 1968. Apparently unmarried, she left an estate to the value of £930; sold with copied London Gazette entries.
