Cecil George Gerry was born on 12 January 1910 at Axminster, the son of cattle farmer George Henry Gillbard Gerry of Westwater Farmhouse, Axminster, Devon. Commissioned into the R.A.F. Balloon Branch as Pilot Officer (London Gazette 2 July 1940, refers), Gerry spent four years serving in this capacity before transferring to the Administrative and Special Duties Branch in December 1944, by which time he had been advance Flight Lieutenant. Awarded the A.E.A. in May 1947, Gerry was awarded the Coronation Medal in 1953 whilst employed at the R.A.F. Record Office, Home Command, before being placed on the Retired List in March 1962 having lost his wife Gertrude Clara Brittain some two years previously. He died in Hampshire in July 1986; sold with copied research.
