J, Budge, H.M.s. 71st Regt.); Turkish Crimea 1855, Sardinian die, fitted with Crimea style suspension, first three fitted with matching silver top riband bars, last with silver claw buckle, note attractive naming style to Crimea, very fine (4)
James Budge was born at Ardersier, Campbeltown and enlisted in the 71st Highland Light Infantry at Glasgow on 1 October 1846. Having seen active service in the Crimea and India, he served some six years in Canada. Discharged in March 1868, his name appeared five times in the Defaulters Book and once tried by Court Martial.
