(x) India General Service 1908-35, 1 clasp, Afghanistan N.W.F. 1919 (2/Lieut. R. T. O. Bracken 1st. Coy 5/6 Sprs. & Miners.), lacquered, minor contact marks and wear, nearly very fine
Richard Trevor Ogilvie Bracken was born on 22 October 1895 in India, the son of William Alexander Frederick Bracken and Maude Frances Ogilvie. Appointed to a commission with the Indian Army Reserve of Officers, he departed Rangoon in May 1916 aboard Warwickshire and travelled to London via Colombo, Port Said and Marseilles, arriving on 13 June 1916. Posted 2nd Lieutenant attached to the 13th Rajputs, he was later promoted Captain in the Gordon Highlanders.
Serving in Afghanistan with the 1st Company, Sappers and Miners, Bracken later returned to the 3rd Battalion, Gordon Highlanders, finally relinquishing the rank of Captain on 5 December 1934 (London Gazette 4 December 1934, refers). He died on 20 October 1968 at Manchester.
