The Crimea Medal awarded to Sergeant E. Evans, 95th Regiment of Foot, who was killed in action at the Battle of Inkermann - 'The Soldier's Battle' - where large numbers of troops were forced to fight upon their own initiative amidst a blanket of thick fog

Crimea 1854-56, 1 clasp, Inkermann (Edwd. Evans. 95th. Regt.), very fine

Edward Evans was killed in action at the Battle of Inkermann whilst serving in the 95th (Derbyshire) Regiment of Foot. His death was announced in The London Sun on 12 December 1854. The Battle also resulted in the death of the Commanding Officer, Major John George Champion - a renowned soldier, botanist and explorer - who died of his wounds at Scutari hospital on 30 November 1854 (his Medals sold in these rooms, April 2019). Evans is further entitled to the clasp 'Sebastopol' (The Crimean Medal Roll, refers).
