(x) Waterloo 1815 (Lieutenant V. Webb. 2nd Batt. 95th Reg. Foot.), fitted with original steel clip and replacement straight bar suspension, this attached with wire link, light pitting and wear, nearly very fine
Vere Webb was commissioned Lieutenant in the 95th Regiment of Foot (Rifles) in December 1813 and 'served with the Rifle Brigade during the campaigns of 1814 and 1815 in Holland, the Netherlands, and France, including the actions at Merxem, bombardment of Antwerp, and battle of Waterloo, at which last he was slightly wounded' (Hart's Army List, 1851, refers).
Webb served in Captain J. G. McCulloch's Company during the Waterloo Campaign. He served as Adjutant of the Royal Cardigan Rifles Militia from 1831-51 and retired in the rank of Major in January of that latter year. Webb died in October 1875 and is buried in Locksbrook Road Cemetery, Bath.
