(x) Waterloo 1815 (John Wymark, Drummer, 2nd Batt. 35th Reg. Foot.), with original steel clip and replacement split ring suspension, contact marks and wear, nearly very fine

John Wymark was born around 1795 in the parish of Willington, Sussex. He enlisted at Winchester as a Private in the 35th Regiment of Foot on 14 June 1805, his papers noting his age at around 10 years, his stature at 5 feet 3.5 inches tall, with a fresh complexion, small face, hazel eyes, and brown hair. They further note 'formerly a labourer' (PRO: WO25/373 Regimental Description Books, refer). Aged just 20 years, the young Wymark served as a Drummer in Captain Drumgoole's Company during the Waterloo Campaign.
