1896 (18 Dec.) a large envelope registered to Shanghai bearing first issue ½c. red on yellow block of fourteen cancelled and tied by Kewkiang Local Post dated oval in purple with a fine strike of the boxed registered handstamp alongside numbered "534", the reverse with Shanghai Local Post c.d.s. (20.12) in red. There are two vertical folding creases, one which runs along the perfs. of the block of stamps.
A very interesting and late cover used shortly before the closure of the local post system, paying double postage of 2c. and registration of 5c. Also unexpectedly late use of the first issue ½c. stamp. Photo
