1894 (28 Aug.) opened-out stampless envelope to Shanghai from the Municipal Council, Kewkiang bearing a good strike of the oval "kewkiang/paid/local post" oval in purple with a fine strike of the Kewkiang Local Post dated oval on the reverse, a faint strike of Shanghai Local Post c.d.s. (30.8) and the postman's pencil delivery characters; there is a small repair at the top of the flap on the reverse. Fine and scarce.


An early date of use of the Paid handstamp, the earliest recorded date being in August. Photo
