British War Medal 1914-20 (3) (S A 2309 F. M. Chilvers. Skr. R.N.R.; M. 16846 J. F. Napier. Ck. Mte. R.N.; L. 11296 W. C. Swan. B. Svt. R.N.), very fine and better (3)

Frederick Mayes Chilvers was born on 31 August 1877 at Kingsfield, Suffolk. He qualified Skipper on 28 March 1905 and served aboard the Silver Herring from 23 September 1915, followed by a series of vessels operating out of Lowestoft.

James Frederick Napier was born on 9 April 1894 at Edmonton, London. He joined the Royal Navy on 15 November 1915 and was demobilised in 1919 following brief service aboard H.M.S. Emperor of India.

William Charles Swan was born on 1 October 1901 at Walthamstow, Essex. He joined the Royal Navy on 16 July 1918, and served as Boy Servant at H.M.S. Osea - the Royal Naval base for Coastal Motor Boats, located on Osea Island in the River Blackwater, Essex - being demobilised on 20 April 1919.
