Roland Bowd was born on 17 August 1886 and served with Anson Battalion, Royal Naval Division from 12 November 1917. He was reported missing, later confirmed as killed in action, on 21 August 1918 and is commemorated at Vis-en-Artois Memorial in the Pas-de-Calais, France.
