Eric Gordon Baxter served with 108th Infantry, Indian Army, before joining the Royal Flying Corps on 27 November 1916 and serving with No. 30 Squadron from 26 May 1917. Experiencing a variety of postings in Scotland from 1918-19, including Gullane, Turnberry and Turnhouse, his temporary Commission with the R.A.F. was relinquished upon reversion to the Indian Army Reserve of Officers, 10 April 1920.
