John Alexander MacDonald was born on 20 May 1895 at Ripley, Ontario, Canada, the son of Alex and Mary MacDonald. Posted as Camel Pilot to No. 3 Squadron, R.A.F., he was posted missing on 4 November 1918. MacDonald later died at Shorncliffe Military Hospital on 13 March 1919, his body being repatriated back home and buried in the family plot in Ontario.
