1897 (26 Feb.) envelope to the China Inland Mission in Shanghai bearing two pairs of 1c. red tied by the double-circle c.d.s. in blue, there is a further strike on the reverse along with Shanghai Local Post c.d.s. (1.3) in black. The envelope with some wrinkling.

An intriguing cover used after the Local Post could no longer use steamships. The Inland Mission did not waste money on postage and it is possible that they were using their local post stamps to pay the 4c. Imperial Post Office rate. Photo


1897年2月26日煙台寄上海中國內地會封， 貼煙台壹分票两對， 銷藍色雙圈煙台書信館日戳， 封背蓋另一枚藍色雙圈煙台書信館日戳， 旁蓋3月1日上海工部到達戳. 這是一件趣味性的信封， 因工部書信館不再利用汽輪， 而教會不會浪費金錢於郵費上， 有可能他們用工部郵票來付那四分郵費.
