Auction: 19031 - The Lou Manzi and A. J. Simms Collections of British Banknotes & other properties
Lot: 2039
Treasury Series, John Bradbury (1914-1919), 10/-, ND (1915), serial number S1/62 No. 016544, red with George V at left and St. George slaying Dragon at right, value to centre and lower-left, black serial number,
(EPM T13), good but historically fascinating, the obverse features the ink signatures of Prime Minister David Lloyd-George; Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour; Field Marshals Earl Haig & Sir John French; Marshal Ferdinand Foch; Admirals Sir John Jellicoe & Sir David Beatty; and U.S. President Woodrow Wilson. It is likely this note belonged to a British staff officer involved in the Treaty of Versailles (June 1919 - January 1920) and during either one meeting or several he obtained the signatures of these famous individuals as his own record of that important - and indeed momentous - occasion which officially brought the Great War to an end. The condition of this note is inconsequential considering its' historical interest! Likely unique and quite fascinating
