1841 (9 Sept.) entire letter, with disinfection slits, from Crete to Scotland, rated "1/-" (deleted) and "1/1", showing "purife au lazaret/malte" circular h.s. and, on reverse across join, a legible strike of the rare "malta" double-arc d.s. with Maltese Cross (MLC-2), the face also shows "postage/to/edinburgh/not paid" h.s.; also 1855 (18 July) entire letter to Marseilles, 1856 (July) entire letter from London to Liverpool re-addressed to Malta and 1856 (Sept.) entire letter from Alexandria to Malta, each showing good fine sans-serif "malta" double-arc d.s.
