1855 (15 Oct.) soldier's entire letter "From Wm Moores No 1758 6th. Royal Regiment" at "Line Drift" to his brother in Manchester, bearing blued paper 1d. brick-red with clear to large margins, neatly cancelled and tied, countersigned by the Commanding Officer and showing, on reverse, Grahams Town, Cape Town and arrival (25.12) datestamps on reverse; some stains on face panel though a presentable example and a rare concessionary rate cover charged "4" on receipt as the letter was sent by a private ship rather than a British Packet.
