Charles I (1625-49), Crown, Exeter, 1644, 27.56g, m.m. rose, armoured King on horseback left, sash in bow behind, rev. oval garnished shield, eight scrolls (Brooker 1035, same dies; Besly C-11; N.2557; S.3058), irregular flan with striking splits at 2 and 8 o'clock, soft in parts, otherwise good fine, the reverse better
