Early Anglo-Saxon England, continental issue (c. 695-740), silver Sceat, series X - 'Wodan' types, Ribe, 1.17g, Wodan head facing, cross either side, rev. beast devouring its tail (Abramson 103.10; SCBI 63 {BM}, 447; N.116; S.797), dark patina possibly suggestive of a baser fabric, nevertheless good very fine, a well-centred and boldly struck example of this popular type
