1904 (February) original announcement of Russo-Japanese War, Liflandia. Fine and rare.

On the night of 8 February 1904, Japan launched a surprise attack on the Russian navy at Port Arthur. Competing imperialist ambition was the underlying cause of Japan's aggression, but Russia bore much of the diplomatic responsibility for pushing both nations into war.
