Great War, 1914-1919, "Dead Man's Penny", Walter William Donaldson, 122mm., 365.20g, about extremely fine

Corporal Walter William Donaldson {S/7832}, was born 14 February 1884 in Barracks near Owlerton, West Yorkshire, the son of Ellen and Henry, a serving Bandsman of 1st East Yorkshire Regiment. Posted to South Africa on 18 March 1918, he served as clerk in supplies for the South African Service Corps. He succumbed to uraemia on 19 May 1919 and is buried in Blantyre Church of Central Africa Cemetery, Malawi. A unique casualty name on CWGC.
