Sweden: Strömsholms Slusswerks, certificate for 5 shares of 160 riksdaler, Stockholm 1800, #381-385, Arms of Gustav III with cornucopia Neptune seated below, black, 4 pages with many manuscript notations. Company formed to build a canal to connect the industrial regions to Stockholm. Commenced in 1777 but not ready until 1795, a total of 110 kilometers long. Competition from railways brought slow decline and the canal was deepened and widened in the 1840's and the company was reconstituted as Strömsholms Nya Kanalaktiebolag. Reopened in 1860. VF and rare.
