Note: Nineteen year old Peggy Salaman and flying instructor Gordon Store were attempting to beat the record set by Cmdr. Glen Kidston. The only mishap en route was a forced landing in the bush short of Mpika due to nightfall. As a result of this landing the fabric of the tail plane was torn but repaired by Stone. The pair landed in Cape Town at 5.40am on 5 November, the journey having lasted 5 days, 6 hours and 40 minutes, a new record
