AG intense black shade, touched at lower left, good to large margins other sides, tied by red Maltese Cross cancellation to envelope, dated 19 Oct. 1840 to Mlle Morthier in Tunbridge Wells, superb Mortlake Country Sorting Office c.d.s. on the front, fine. Also AH, close to good margins, on similar envelope also to Mlle Morthier, dated 9 Aug. to Portman, with equally fine Mortlake c.d.s. on the front; a remarkable adjoining pair used on separate envelopes to the same addressee at different addresses.
