1895 (4 June) envelope registered to the Editor of Stanley Gibbons Journal, London bearing first issue 1c. (2) and 5c. with additional Chinese characters tied by Wuhu China c.d.s. with Hong Kong 5c. blue (4) tied by British Post Office Shanghai (6.6), large "R" in circle, blue crayon marks and London registered oval (14.7) in red. The reverse with the handstruck "Registered No." with manuscript "278" (the number has been crossed through), further despatch c.d.s., Hong Kong transit (11.6) and a complete red wax seal. Pays the correct postage and registration rates of 7c. to Shanghai and 20c. for international registered. A remarkable and highly desirable cover. Photo

This letter was sent by Arthur Gregson, the postmaster of the Wuhu Local Post. We can speculate that he was contacting this stamp magazine to promote the Wuhu stamps


1895年6月4日蕪湖寄英國Stanley Gibbons Journal編輯掛號封, 貼第一版一分票兩枚及中文五分加蓋票一枚, 銷蕪湖信局單圈英文日戳, 另貼香港五仙票四枚, 銷6月6日上海英國客郵局郵戳, 封面左下蓋圓圈"R"戳, 另有藍鉛筆記號及倫敦紅色橢圓形掛號戳. 封背有掛號印記,編號為"278"並加紅線(編號被塗蓋), 旁有另一蕪湖信局戳, 6月11日香港中轉戳, 封舌上留有紅色火漆, 該信是於7月14日到達倫敦; 郵資中七分是蕪湖至上海掛號費, 二十分是海外掛號費; 本件為僅見第一版郵票及中文加蓋票混貼封, 亦是蕪湖信局唯一與香港票混貼寄往英國的掛號封, 彌足珍貴, 可遇不可求之件._x000D_ _x000D_ 此件是由Arthur Gregson所寄出, 他是蕪湖工部書信館的郵務局長, 我們可推測他聯絡這本郵票雜誌, 目的是宣傳蕪湖的新發行郵票.
