1897 (3 Feb.) opened-out envelope registered to India bearing, on the reverse, 1c. on 1ca., 2c. on 2ca. 5c. on 5ca. and 8c. on 6ca. (2) cancelled or tied by Tientsin seal in blue, the Customs Tientsin despatch c.d.s. is on the address side, fractionally covered by a pair of Hong Kong 10c. purple on red with a fine strike of "tientsin/R/no..." in oval in red with Hong Kong "R" in circle alongside. There is a fine range of transit marks including Shanghai Customs (8.2), British Post Office Shanghai (9.2), Tuticorin (10.3) and other Indian datestamps including Sealkot (25.3).


An outstanding cover of the highest order. This is the earliest Imperial Post cover from Tientsin, it is also the earliest Imperial Post registered cover from any city, it includes the additional 4c. winter rate, the seal cancellations should not have been used (however, Tientsin stuck to the rules with regard to the Customs Post datestamp which was not meant to be used as a cancellation) and late use of the Tientsin type IV registration handstamp. This exceptional cover could grace the finest of collections. Photo

1897年2月3日天津寄印度掛號破剖封，在封背貼洋銀壹分蓋於壹分銀，洋銀貳分蓋於貳分銀，洋銀伍分蓋於伍分銀各一枚及洋銀捌分蓋於陸分銀兩枚，銷天津藍色橢圓型戳，信封面有天津海關分發戳，另貼兩枚香港10仙紅及紫色票一對，銷紅色天津橢圓型粗框"R"號碼戳，旁有香港圓框形"R"掛號戳，另有些不同地方的中轉戳，包括2月8日上海海關戳，2月9日上海英國客郵戳，3月10日Tuticorin(杜蒂戈林港)戳及印度其他郵戳包括3月25日Sealkot(鍚亞爾科特，今屬巴基斯坦)等郵戳. 非常優秀的稀罕封，這亦是天津寄出的最早期大清國辦郵政封，同時也是中國各城市中最早的大清國辦郵政掛號封，也包括追加郵資4仙的冬季郵費，而且那天津橢圓型戳也不該被使用於此封(然而因天津海關日戳遵守當時並不能作為郵票之蓋銷戳的原故)，加之天津"IV"型掛號戳是較晚期使用於此封(其使用期間為1895年11月2日至1897年2月14日); 令這件慈壽掛號實寄封成為集郵家們所追求的夢想藏品._x000D_ _x000D_ 著作：2011年關道華著" 慈禧壽辰票暨其加蓋票信封圖鑑" (513頁插圖)
