Bagnall, collection dispersed by Spink (acquired 10 July 1964) - £5.10.0

Intriguingly the r of rex is omitted from this obverse die. Whilst other examples of Eadweard's issues for the reign of Cnut show greater competency in respect to die sinking, perhaps this was a more deliberate act by a disenfranchised native moneyer who disputed the legitimacy of this new Viking 'king'?
