N. P. Kay was born on 18 August 1931 and promoted Warrant Officer 1st Class on 27 March 1968. He was subsequently commissioned Lieutenant 4 March 1970, Captain 4 March 1972 and Major 28 February 1979, retiring on 1 September 1979.
