(x) India General Service 1908-35, 2 clasps, Waziristan 1919-21, Waziristan 1921-24 (6078274 Pte. A. E. Harfleet. The Queen's R.), 'R' of unit officially corrected, good very fine

Alfred Ernest Harfleet was born at Stoughton, near Guildford in 1897. Following civilian employment as a machinist at a timber yard, he enlisted into the 2nd Battalion, The Queen's Regiment at Rugeley Camp on 16 April 1919. He went on to serve during the Third Afghan War, and was awarded this medal (his only entitlement) in Allahabad Camp on 11 January 1926. He married Lilian Rose Rogers on 25 December that year, and was discharged on 21 July 1927. Harfleet died in Somerset in April 1989; sold with copied MIC and confirmation of medal entitlement.
