(x) A fine Victorian Royal Household Levée Dress coatee, 3rd Class, dark blue with scarlet collar and cuffs, gilt buttons mounted with the Royal Arms, the collar, cuffs, back and pocket-flaps richly ornamented with saw-edged gold embroidery, named to the Rt. Hon. Lord Hamilton of Dalzell; a companion pair of dark blue trousers with 2 inch gold oakleaf lace stripes, by Milbourne & Son, Sackville Street (Lot). See illustration.

John Hamilton, 1st Baron Hamilton of Dalzell (1829-1900) joined the 2nd Life Guards in 1847, becoming Liberal MP for Falkirk Burghs in 1857. He entered the Royal Household as Lord-in-Waiting to Gladstone's government in 1892.
