(x) 1914 Star (Major R. S. Hutchison. A.P.D.), good very fine

R. S. Hutchison served as a Major with the Army Pay Department as Assistant to the Paymaster in Chief, Headquarters Amiens in France from 10 August 1914. Promoted Lieutenant-Colonel, the above award represents his sole entitlement for the Great War. He is also recorded as having served on the Dongola expedition, 1896 (Medal) and having been awarded the C.B.E..

C.B.E. London Gazette 1 January 1919. Robert Schlesinger Hutchison was born in Colombo, Ceylon on 1 June 1869. He was first commissioned in the North Staffordshire Regiment in December 1888. Having also been 'mentioned' on 22 September 1915 - this 1914 Star was claimed by the recipient. Having died in Singapore on 14 September 1921, no other Great War awards were claimed.
