1876 (29 Jan.) envelope from St. Pierre to France redirected inland to Besançon, paying the 25c. military concessionary rate with 1872-77 25c. cut slightly into at left, tied by dotted lozenge showing blue "corr.d.armées/st.pierre me" and red "cor.d.arm./lig.b paq. fr. n°4" (Salles 1450) octagonal datestamps alongside, embarked on the "Washington" to St. Nazaire. Some peripheral minor toning affecting the adhesive. The "correspondance d'armées" datestamp of St. Pierre is much rarer than the similar device used at Fort de France. Signed Baudot. Maury 23.
