The Large Format Stamps and Overprints
Settings 2 and 3
"r" Errors and Varieties

"Zaniba" with normal capital "Z" and normal second "z" with break in the diagonal
Hall variety 9, S.G. variety "j"

This is the rarest and most distinctive of the large format errors, which must have been very quickly corrected when spotted. Plated by Hall as R.2/4, being the right-hand stamp in horizontal strips of three of each value (Hall p.18), all of which were in the ownership of C.J. Daun at the time of Hall's study. One set is now in the Royal Philatelic Collection, and one value from the third set is missing, believed destroyed

2r. carmine and yellow-green, 3r. brown and green and 5r. ultramarine and violet, each with error "r" omitted, fresh with large part original gum; 5r. with diagonal gum crease, barely affecting appearance. A wonderful and exceptionally rare set with this error, and the sole trio available in the market today. B.P.A. Certificate (2018) for each. S.G. 19j, 20j, 21j, £84,000. Photo
