1839 entire letter from Dublin to India showing London Ship Letter datestamp with a spectacular strike of "returned/for/postage" handstamp and the only recorded example of "not according to/act of parliament" in scroll handstamp; stains and fragile though an extraordinary discovery. This letter broke the regulations in that Assistant overseers, unlike overseers, were entitled to the concessionary 1d. rate. A major rarity. Photo
