1899 (1 Apr.) envelope to Simons Town, bearing 1d. red cancelled by barred oval "210" and with D2 datestamp alongside, the reverse showing a legible strike of the Mafeteng 28mm. relief datestamp (D3) for 2 April partly overstruck by arrival datestamp (5.4); faults, including having been severed horizontally towards foot and rejoined, not affecting any markings. Exceptionally rare, being the latest recorded date of use of the barred oval "210" and one of only two recorded examples of the relief datestamp. Photo
