Note: On August 21st two RAF Southampton flying-boats, S1043 and S1420, flew from Seletar for a six week tour of Borneo to inspect landing sites. S1420 damaged a wing on landing and had to be shipped back to Singapore. S1043 continued the tour, flying along the coast from Kuching on August 29th, and arriving at Sandakan on September 26th. The return flight left Sandakan on September 28th, reaching Kuching on October 7th. The next day S1043 flew from Kuching to Seletar, carrying a small amount of mail.
