1926 (18 July) envelope flown on first flight from Sibu to Kuching, addressed to Wales, franked at 6c. and clearly tied by Sibu c.d.s. and showing, on reverse, Kuching datestamp (19.7); the envelope with tear at top caused through opening. Rare, about 70 covers flown. Photo

Note: In 1926 the Air Survey Department had a contract with the Sarawak Government to map the Rejang delta. The company made their base at Sibu, and on July 19th, the chief pilot, Mr. R.P. Raynham, had to fly to Kuching to collect some spare parts. With the agreement of the Sibu Postmaster, Mr. E.W.H. Jacques, he carried a small amount of mail.
