Note: Extract from letter "The reinforcements arrived here about a month ago, two days from landing we attacked the Brigands, stormed their Vigo, and killed great number, the other parties surrendered at discression, but the Carraibs still refuse to come in, and our army is out in their country and will soon escort them to Ballaisau, a small island, until his Majesty's pleasure is known how they are to be disposed of. The island will be freed from a set of rascally savages who took delight in nothing but murder, nothing could withstand the savage fury of these monsters. The prisoners they took, they cut off their arms and legs, and in that situation they would allow the unfortunate sufferers to expire.
