1842 (7 July) entire from London to Cape Town and redirected to Brakfontein, rated "1/4", showing oval "paid ship letter/london" d.s. in red and arrival framed "post paid" with manuscript "8"; the entire then "turned" and re-addressed back to London with letter dated 8 October, rated "1/-" and "2/8", showing poor Crowned "general post office/cape of good hope" d.s. with, on reverse, straight-line "ship letter" and red arrival c.d.s. (23.12); some faults, mainly along folds
