1813 (23 Oct.) entire letter from Major J.C. Cuyler, Acting Landroost at Uitenhage addressed to "Theodr Potgeiter d'oude, Zeekorivier", marked "Landdrost, van Uitenhagen" at lower left; some light staining in places. A scarce example of early mail to the eastern frontier. Photo
Note: In 1780, Governor J. van Plettenberg erected a beacon on the Zeekoerivier marking the northernmost point in the Colony for establishing farms. Theodorus Potgieter married October 10, 1780 and settled on the Zeekoerivier.
