Revenue Stamps
1875 (1 June) early stage artist's essays executed in pencil on tracing paper (2), for future revenue issues, with "fee stamp" incorporated into the frame of each design, the first a vertical design denominated 5/-, the second a horizontal design denominated 10/-. In all likelihood prepared for the Common Law Courts issue the following year, the vertical stamp closely resembling the finished article. The 10/- design appears to be unissued but is notable for its resemblance to the 1858 Matrimonial cause design. A splendid pair, ex the De La Rue Archives. Photo
