1931 R.A.F. Third Survey Flights
1931 (30 May) envelope to Belait bearing 8c., 10c., 12c., 15c. and 30c. tied by boxed "air mail/brunei." handstamp with Brunei despatch c.d.s. alongside and, on the reverse, a light strike of Belait (31.5) c.d.s. Fine. A very rare cover used on this date, it is thought that there are only two covers recorded (a second cover, also to Belait, was offered in the Yen Boon Swee collection in October 2017). Photo

Three planes (S1162, S1161 and S1128) left Singapore on April 13th for a more extensive survey work. No mail was carried on the outward journey however, on the return flight, mail was taken from Brunei on May 31st. From Brunei the planes coursed to Kuala Belait and reached there on June 1st.
