1809 (7 Apr.) entire letter to Somerset, rated "2/-", showing good to fine "st kitt's" large fleuron datestamp; part of top flap on reverse torn away. Interesting contents include "...the French Garrison of Fort D'Essaix (Fort Royale, Martinique) were to march out with the honours of war and lay down their arms and Eagles. Prisoners of War, they did so on the 7th March on the glacis of the Fort, from whence they were embarked but we do not for certain whether they are bound for England or France.". Photo
