Discussed at length by Derek Chick in Spink Numismatic Circular July 1992, this intermediate issue represents a brief coinage by the Archbishop's moneyer at Canterbury during the insurrection in Kent under Eadberht Praen against the royal house of Mercia. Apart from this coin there are three others listed by Naismith, one of which is no more than a large fragment.
